Disabled sports USA was established in 1967 by disabled Vietnam veterans to serve the war injured. DS/USA now offers nationwide sports rehabilitation programs to anyone with a permanent disability. Activities include winter skiing, water sports, summer and winter competitions, fitness and special sports events. Participants include those with visual impairments, amputations, spinal cord injury, dwarfism, multiple sclerosis, head injury, cerebral palsy, and other neuromuscular and orthopedic conditions.

Disabled Explorers is an all volunteer, donation supported non-profit that assist persons with physical disabilities to enjoy travel through remote back-country areas. With a Sportsmobile WAVE (Wheelchair Accessible Van for Expeditions), a 4x4 RV style van, and a dedicated core of volunteers, they offer driving and passenger experiences to the disabled and their families. Based in Phoenix, AZ and traveling throughout the desert southwest allows Disabled Explorer participants to explore historic, scenic and cultural sites that will never have ramps, handrails or pathways.
